2 Reasons Why Australia Beats the US & China at the Olympics

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Want to know why I love the Olympics? Oh… Well I’m going to tell you anyway.

It’s because if my country (Australia) was the same size as the US - we’d have something like 150 medals by now. I like being a part of a permanently (down)underdog country. It gives me something to hope for and then an excuse once we don’t win! It’s like two perfect worlds smashed together (although why would they if they were perfect?) and created Australia - land of the not-really-perfect-small-population-but-cool-anyway country.

I can see how you agree.

Being an underdog, there are a few things that you need to know to make yourselves look/feel better. One is that no matter how hard you try Michael Phelps will always win. So put your worst swimmers in those races and your best in the races he’s not in. That way you look better!

The second - and more important - is about the medal tally. This is how it works: the colour of the medal doesn’t matter, all you need is a medal. Say the US gets 90 gold medals and China gets 90 gold medals and Australia gets just 90 medals (87 of which are bronze) then being an underdog that’s EQUAL to China and the US. In effect you were as good as if not better than the other countries because look at your small population! It’s an amazing feat. The colour doesn’t mean anything - just the numbers.

And to celebrate we’re going to have a little underdog competition. I want to know the following:

What are you considered an underdog in? And how do you overcome this status?

Your answer could be sport but it doesn’t have to - because you could just be an internet fatty who doesn’t play sport or care about their health. Feel free to answer in any way you like :)

Three Lazy English Workers & a Genie

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

If you could transport yourself instantly anywhere right now - where would you go?

Two lazy English workers and their boss go out at lunch time and run into a genie.

The genie greets them and says, “If you all give me a dollar each, I’ll grant you one wish.”

Each of the men think, ‘Finally I can get what I’ve always wanted!’ and give the genie their dollar.

The laziest and pushiest worker goes first, “I would like to go to Australia and lie on the beach with a wonderful woman by my side in warm, wonderful sunshine.” POOF! He was gone.

‘Wow, what a sweet idea’, exclaim the other two.

The second laziest worker butts in just as his boss is about to say something and wishes for a beautiful wife, mansion and 500 million dollars in Hawaii.

he boss looks at his watch and says to the genie, “I want them both back and working harder than ever by the end of lunch.”

Where would you go instantly? Enter the competition now (as long as I have changed the front page)

#8 - In 25 Words or Less Describe the Weather Now.

Monday, January 21st, 2008

I can tell you - it’s not Summer outside. It should be but it’s more like winter. Dark, cloudy, windy, raining. And I’m glad! I’d rather be outside when it’s warm and shining like a day that says, “You should go to the beach - work isn’t worth it.” Summer days are deceptive sneaky little guys, always leaving you yearning to go outside. It’s just not fair - I think the image below describes why I feel angry about summer days… while I’m at work that is.
