#50 - Roses Are Red. Violets Are Too

Roses are red, violets are blue
Onedollarjackpot.com
Not up dated for you.

With my great powers of observation and web design, I failed to update the front page for about 13hrs yesterday and received some nice entries that had nothing to do with the competition I thought I was running!

Dang.

As a result we didn’t get the 100 entries I would have liked, but hey I partied in my own little way - I went to soccer training and hurt my lungs with some exercise.

Now that I can breathe again I’ve decided in my most humble tone, to release the winner for today and the runner-ups.

The first last placers.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue;
Most poems have rhymes,
This one doesn’t always even scan properly

Hey - you’ve still got #49 up!

Roses are red,
violets are blue
If only bad poems were strictly taboo.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
Make the prize bigger,
you miserly Ed: removed!

Roses are red,
Daffodills are yellow
Clouds on a summer day
Puffy pieces of marshmallow

Redwoods are orange
Blueberries are purple
What’s the deal
With fooling the people?
Ed: I’m an idiot?

Roses are red,
Violets are blue;
and neither of these smell like a big brown poo

Roses are red,
Violets are blue;
and I just flushed both right down the loo

Roses are red,
Violets are blue;
I just saw both when I went to Kakadu

Roses are red,
Violets are blue;
if you’re mentally ill,
you may think this untrue

Ed: This one invalid but still worth putting in…
Roses are Red,
Violets are blue.
Whoever wrote this stupid little poem has forever misinformed all the children of the world by telling them that violets are blue when violets should be violet and therefore it sucks to be you.

The little prize for the day - a small humble dollar. The pride you feel when you win? Muchly.

Chuck is a proud man today - Chuck is a great man today. Chuck… enjoy your wonderful dollar. I’m pretty sure you won’t be spending it on anyone else but yourself! ;)

Roses are red,
Violets are blue;
don’t think for a second that I’m going to give either to you!

#50! Roses Are Red - Violets Are Blue

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

 There was a book when I was young, it was a great book - it was such fun. ‘Unreal Bannana Peel’ the title it did go, do you think I have it now? - the answer, it is ‘no’.

I loved that book - so many childish rhymes, so many fun poems you could sing. It was gross too. Some of my favourites were ditties about ‘Fatty and Skinny’ or ‘Roses are Red, Violets are Blue’ songs. So, on our 50th jackpot, I’m going to offer up a really easy contest. I want to see as many entries as you can think of! Make them childish, stupid, funny, gross - whatever. Tell your friends on facebook, post it on myspace, link us from your blog - get as many people as you know to enter. I’m going to be brave here and say - I want over 100 entries. Valid, pure gold, awesome entries. Can you help me? Tell everyone now!

A warning though… if I find any of you copying poems from the interwebs I will give you a big smack and send you to the corner! Here’s a bit of inspiration for you to start off…

Roses are blue.
Violets are red.
If you agree,
You’ve got rocks in your head.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
If you get me on music
I’ll mention U2

Roses are red
Violets are blue
When I was a kid
I’d say ‘poo in my shoe’

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Most rhymes rhyme
But this one doesn’t

Valentine’s Day Winner in Distant Parklands

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Congratulations to Cecile again with her best thing to do on Valentine’s Day:

Got no money,
But it won’t stop me;
To brag all day,
Come what may;
I’m the luckiest,
Loving my best–
Imperfectly best.

Some good entries again today, some proclaiming that you should climb a Hallmark building and reclaim the term ‘holiday’, others saying that the fluff just isn’t right and we should focus on God’s real love for us (I’m assuming that’s Jesus - sounds like a good idea.)

A friend of mine recently bought some roses a few days ahead of the big 14th - 80 bucks? That’s just not right!

How much have you paid for the privilege of getting a smile?
