Pirates vs Ninjas is Boring
Give me a break. This whole debate is over rated. Pirate/Ninja is like McCain/Obama. Palestine/Israel. Johnny Depp/Bruce Lee. In that order.
It really makes no sense to me - and I don’t know why I put it up as a question. Apparently the entrant above agreed with me, although they didn’t win… or did they?*
Let’s break up the two arguments. On Team Ninja we have ’some’ support… and by some I mean “skinny, nerdy teenagers with pimples standing there trying not to be too loud lest they be heard”.
- A ninja could jump from roof to roof and get free cable. Ninja for the win!
- Ninja, because “Ninja Star” is my favorite sushi: Spicy Ahi, Avocado, Shrimp Tempura; Try it!
Talk about not convincing.
On Team Pirate we have a loud chorus of support…
- Argh, mateys! Be handing over your french fries and bread and I won’t be swooping and pooping over your beach blanket. (Read with pirate accent)
- Pirates, Pyrites
Fools, Fool’s Gold
Always go for the gold.
Someone’s silver though,
Not you, not yours.
Stand on the altar, ribbon around neck, Hanging. - Pirate. Evarrry year, September 19. ed: whaaaaat? Please explain.
- The name’s Silver, Short John Silver. Who said you had to be a parrot to join the club? Do you think they’ll notice?
- Pirate = grog and wenches. Ninja = studying martial arts your whole life. It’s not even close. PIRATES! YARRRRRRRRRRR!
- Although the Ninja has throwing stars, the Pirate has a sword and plenty of busty wenches to chill with. They also have beer.
*No they did not win.
I’ll tell you who won - the best on the day that’s who! And from just looking at some of those entries, some make absolutely no sense at all - until you look closer. See if you can work out why this one wins:
Pirates, Pyrites
Fools, Fool’s Gold
Always go for the gold.
Someone’s silver though,
Not you, not yours.
Stand on the altar, ribbon around neck, Hanging.
A great word play, a lot of fun! Congratulations Ray, your entry was my favourite and the best. Enjoy your dollar, enjoy your Easter break.

Re: my (apparently TOO obscure) Sept. 19 entry… September 19 is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. (It’s also my anniversary, which is admittedly the only reason I know the date.)

Thanks for the buck (or where I come from 99 cents, some pirates got at the stash before me). It’s good to know my chaotic ramblings can actually earn me cold hard cash someone else has worked so hard to make. I apologize to all for lack of iambic pentameter (whatever tha’ means), and especially to Sarah Lewis, because she obviously put some effort into research. Hopefully my Olympic allusions were not misconstrued. Go Olympic Pirates!!
